Mummy&son adventure time | Lepe Country Park, Hampshire

Parking by the beach | Facilities | Buggy Friendly

Whenever we get a chance and have few days off school or work we always try to get away on some sort of micro adventure. Last Easter break (2022) was no different. We spent a lot of time locally meeting friends, going to playgrounds, soft plays and Ziggyβ€˜s favourite salto gym. Ziggy was off school for almost 3 weeks so that’s a lot of time(If you know you know) so I had to think hard about entertainment ideas. Unfortunately Lukas was working away for a week during this break so I decided to visit my brother and his family who live in Southampton. We spent a couple of nights there. Ziggy loves his β€œuncle Booba” so much and enjoys playing with their dog Fluffy too!

For the first time I got a chance to explore the urban side of Southampton and Buster had his epic morning swim.

My brother owns a bicycle shop where you can buy fully serviced second hand bike or have your bike repaired or serviced. So if you’re in Southampton and in need of a two wheels, visit JazzyBazzar for more info😁

While being so near to the seaside Ziggy really wanted to go to a sandy beach(his favorite). He didn’t need to ask twice I knew where I wanted to take him. We visited this location in 2017 when Ziggy was only four months old. It’s where he dipped his tiny feet in the sea for the first time.

I really like this location. The car park is divided into two sections, one is a nice big parking on grass overlooking the beach with the view of Solent, The other section is located directly on the beach. There are some facilities there - a cafΓ© with a gift shop, there are toilets on site of course. You pay for parking at the end when you’re ready to leave. The beach is a mixture of pebble and sand, with some bigger stretches of sand. Dogs are allowed on the beach. We took our camping cooler full of sandwiches and snacks and Pringles of course. We also had to buy ice cream in the shop. When we arrived it was a bit chilly but it turned out to be a very sunny day in the end. Buster , as always was doing my headache, nagging me to throw rocks in the water all the time, I enjoy doing it for the first few minutes but after two hours it becomes a pain in the… So as You can imagine I didn’t get a chance to sit down and relax, but it’s okay I loved every second of it. Ziggy loved looking for shells and cool rocks and digging holes and filling them with water (which I had to provide). He also made some friends in the end and they went to look for some sea creatures together, this is when I finally got few minutes to myself (while I was watching Ziggy playing with his new friend). We later went for a stroll with Buster along the beach.

I really enjoyed our little adventure. Ziggy is such a fun little fella. He didn’t even fall asleep on our  way to and from Southampton. He just wanted to talk or eat all the time. I let Ziggy sit at the front seat with me for this occasion, it was much easier to have him right next to me during a 3h hour car journey…which turned into 5h trip on the way back due to traffic… We were playing β€˜I spy’ and did a lot of counting , we aimed to spot and count blue lorries and black cars! Ziggy also spotted every single Skoda in the world ;) Highlight of our journey home was peeing on hard shoulder of the motorway while stuck in traffic …(Ziggy, not me).

I love these little adventures together, these are the core memories that I hope will stay with him together, along with all of the shells and rocks we brought back home!
