Superworm Trail | Wendover Woods, Chiltern Hills

It’s been a while since our last visit to Wendover woods I think it was even before we even had our son. I remember loving it at the time. Situated in the beautiful surroundings of the Chilterns, Wendover Woods is home to stunning trails, Go Ape and picturesque views. It’s managed by Forestry England – more info here. Last time I didn’t pay a lot of attention to kids activities for obvious reasons, so I was presently surprised when I found out about the new Superworm Trail.

Access & Facilities

Upper Icknield Way, Aston Clinton, Aylesbury, Sat Nav Postcode: HP22 5NQ

Trail has a great access for buggies or bikes ( I wouldn’t risk it with a scooter though). There is a cafe on site which provides all the  facilities you’ll need and a pretty nice food too! Their strawberry ice creams are to die for! And there’s another playground or two for the kids to run around while you are enjoying your coffee ;) Parking is huge as this place can get very busy.

Parking charges apply (July 2022) 2h £2.70, 4h £5, all day £10

The Superworm Trail

My son loves being outside and is so used to run around woodlands, he doesn’t really need any “ad ons” as he will happily play with a rock or a stick or whatever treasure he can find. But now when he is getting bigger I see that he really enjoys climbing and challenging himself more and more, as he gets a lot more brave these days. This trail was perfect for him. There is so much to do, as you will find lot of  little playgrounds along the trail. The trail is free, but you can buy an activity pack for £3.50 if you wish.

Inside the Superworm trail pack you’ll find:

Kraft bag to colour in

Forest superhero mask

7 creature facts cards

Activity sheet to complete at home

Stickers

Pencil and crayon

Trail leaflet

More info about the trail here

The trail is not long at all but it can take a while to complete it, because kids love it so much! It’s about half a kilometre long. The play trail is brilliant. We loved all of it, especially the pyramid to climb on and kitchen lab was interesting. Fort at the end of the trail is pretty cool too! It took us about 2h to complete it in a very slow pace.
