The best campsite? | Corfe Castle, Dorset (pt2 campsite review)

Norden Farm Campsite

Norden Farm, Corfe Castle, Dorset, BH20 5DS. UK.

Check out my previous post to see what we’ve been up to the day before.

We discovered this campsite in 2013 and I truly felt in love with it. Located in Corfe Castle within walking distance from the actual castle it’s probably my favorite thing. Norden Farm is a family farm-run touring caravan and camping  site set on a working farm. It’s caters for a wide variety of camping needs as well as livestock, equestrian and pet products. Since our first visit in 2013 I knew that I will go back to this campsite when I have my own kids. It’s probably my favorite Campsite when it comes to attractions for little kids and possible even teenagers. As previously mentioned it’s a working farm so there is a lot of livestock on site. Goats, cows, horses, chickens, ostrich, you name it… everything is there. They even have peacocks walking freely around reception area. TheFarm shop is probably the best campsite shop I’ve ever experienced. They have everything on site, you can buy amazing free range eggs, local produce, biscuits , meat, ALCOHOL, and camping equipment if we run out of gas. You can even get a milkshake from a milkshake machine which is situated just outside the farm shop.

This campsite is just the best for families. There is so much you can do. You can visit the castle or go on a steam train that will take you to Swanage which is a beautiful Seaside town where we slept the night before.

See my next post to read about our visit to Corfe Castle.

wake up at 4.30 if you want to take a photo like this ;)

Walk to the castle takes about half an hour and you can take few different routes to get there. One path takes you through a highland cows grazing field. You have to be very careful though, I always assumed that Highland cows are very friendly but I ended up being chased by one of them twice in one day, so maybe this one was a bit of a cow (pardon the pun). If you decide to take this rout you’ll end up on the hill overlooking the castle and it’s the best at 5 o’clock in the morning, if you manage to wake up that early. I did that once and ended up with the most amazing picture of the castle in the sunrise. Highly recommending doing that. Unfortunately on this trip we were all a bit ill, we weren’t feeling great so we didn’t take advantage of all the attractions but at least we have an excuse to go back again. Make sure you book your spot at the campsite as soon as you can because it can get pretty full very quickly, especially at weekends and bank holidays.

This one chased me…twice in one day!

Facilities at this campsite are great too, toilet and shower blocks are situated in few locations. Kitchen area with sink is a very good size, there is also a Laundrette with washing machines and tumble dryers, a place where you can wash your dog which is called a pooch parlour. There is a fishing lake on site, we didn’t use it on this occasion but you can buy a day ticket at reception. Campsite is divided into a few different sections for camper vans caravans with electric hook ups, there is also a huge field reserved just for tents. It’s situated in the lovely valley surrounded by hills and woodlands, upon our arrival we spotted a deer behind the fence. It’s also has a good size playground for kids to run around. A cute book swap station in an old telephone box got my attention too so I swapped a book or two ;)
