Check out my previous post about the campsite where we stayed.
Corfe Castle village offers a unique range of independent shops pubs restaurants teahouses etc. Apart from Glorious castle which overlooks the entire village there is also a Swanage Railway where you can catch a steam train to Swanage from Corfe Castle station.
Thousand-year-old royal castle shaped by warfare, Corfe Castle once served King John as a prison, a refuge in times of trouble, and as a luxury country home. Corfe Castle is also the name of the village it overlooks. The ruins of this ancient castle stand ominously behind the village. From cute cottages to historic pubs, the village is a very picturesque place to visit.
I strongly recommend a visit to the castle, especially if you like ruins like we do. My son was mesmerized, he was running around checking every corner of this place, hoping to find secret passages and ghosts! Views from the castle are also breathtaking.
